My Ideal① Job
When we are asked about what we want to be in the future, we have different answers. We may want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a politician, a scientist or a worker, and so on.
My ideal job is to be an excellent teacher. This idea came into being② when I was very young. No one is born with knowledge. If I am a teacher, I will be able to turn an ignorant man into a learned③ person. I will teach what I know to my students. Sometimes, I will be able to learn something from them because students are always active and creative④. So life will be interesting and meaningful⑤.
Bu I know it isn’t easy for me to be a good teacher. Being a teacher needs knowledge, patience⑥, skills, etc. First, I must study very hard so that I will be able to answer most of my students’ questions. Second, I must learn to be patient. I shall not be rude⑦ to my students. Third, I should have good teaching methods. It doesn’t follow that a teacher with great knowledge can make himself understood quickly and clearly. Perhaps students may still be puzzled because they don’t understand what he says at all!
So, you see, different jobs require different talents. I will study hard now at college and get myself well prepared for my future teaching job so that I can truly live up to⑧ the name of a teacher when I stand in front of my students.
