英语阅读：英语Down for the count真的不是中文“下去数数”
“求得”英语的“中文什么意思？”一直是众多英语学习者最常用的英语学习方法。一般认为：只要“懂得”英语的“中文意思”就算“懂得”了英语，“学会”了英语。
也许算是“学会”了英语，但不等于“会用”英语，而“用”英语又是我们之所以愿意不辞劳苦“学”英语的“初心”。只是实践起来时，我们又恰恰背离了这个“初心”。
再者，“用”中文“理解”英语，“理解”对了还好，“理解”不对，望文生义，还不如不“用”。
对于“不懂”的英语，我多年养成的习惯和能力就是：查英英字典。
而学会用字典，是我们在小学一年里就要求掌握的“语文能力”。可是，我们“学”英语可能都到了大学阶段，依然没有多少人能熟练查英英字典，也不愿意不厌其烦查英英字典。所有的英语问题大多源于此。
其实，“不懂”英语就老老实实查英英字典，再用英语学这些查到的英英字典，恐怕这是我们在“互联网 ”时代，以及在“非英语语言环境”下学并学好英语的唯一正确道路。
因此，当我们读到英语The market is not down for the count just yet even though many peopke are losing money时，你不需要“懂得”down for the count的“中文意思”。恰恰相反，你需要也必须“懂得”它下面的英语意思并能做到“张口就来”：
1. Okay.I got you.If yoy say someone or something is down for the count, you mean they are failing,or they're close to a defeat(这才是必记的关键词),a completely defeat .
2.This expression comes from boxing and boxing counting from one to ten.
If a boxer is knocked to the ground/the floor and does not get up before the referee has counted to ten, he'll lose the contest/the game completely.
也就是说，在非英语语言环境下，你学英语down for the count不是为了“学来跟人用的”，你没有这样的机会，也不是为了学来“懂得”它的中文“什么意思”的。
是为了通过对它的学习，让你“获得”更多英语，也就是张口就来上面的英语的，是为了具备用英语积累英语的能力。
