Honesty
What is honesty? Honesty means telling the truth and being fair and upright① in action. Honesty is a good virtue admired in every country and every culture. The person who lies and cheats is dishonest. Also, those who gain fortunes by base means are dishonest.
As the proverb goes, honesty is the best policy. For one thing, if you want to be trusted and respected by your friends, you must be honest. A liar is always looked down upon② and avoided by the people around him. For another, if you want to succeed in your work, the first quality③ you should have is honesty. It is through honest efforts that Newton and Einstein became great figures④ in history. Therefore whatever your aim is, you must work honestly to attain it.
Since honesty is so important, we must cultivate it. We should tell the truth at all times. We should not make such an excuse as "A little dishonesty is only a trifle⑤". We should eradicate⑥ immediately the seed of dishonesty to prevent it from taking root in our minds.
