《格萨（斯）尔》是蒙、藏两个民族人民集体创作的一部伟大英雄史诗，是蒙、藏人民智慧的结晶。藏族称为《格萨尔》，蒙古族称为《格斯尔》，统称《格萨（斯）尔》。

2006年，《格萨（斯）尔》被列入国家级非物质文化遗产名录。2009年，《格萨（斯）尔》被列入联合国教科文组织《人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录》。
