大多数高考英语考纲词汇集，只列了单词、词性和词义，没有例句和辨析讲解。笔者试图在考纲词汇的基础上，给出例句或短语，并对个别重点词汇作出讲解、辨析，希望对老师的教学和学生的学习有所帮助。
知识在于积累。在没有特殊原因的情况下，我计划根据考纲词汇，争取坚持每天讲解几个单词，不断更新。忙很了，也可能过几天才能更新。
在讲解过程中，错误在所难免，希望读者在发现错误的时候，及时在评论区给予批评、指正。
assistant n.[C]助手，助教，图书馆管理员：
shop assistant 店员

associate v.把某人/某事与……联系起来；与……有瓜葛：
I’ve never associated you with this place.我从未把你和这个地方联系在一起。
I wouldn’t want to be associated with the project.我不想和那项计划有任何瓜葛。
association n.协会，社团；*
the Association of Master Builders建筑师协会
his association with the Green Party.他与绿党的合作。
assume v.假定，假设：
I didn’t see your car, so I assumed you’d gone out.
我没有看见你的汽车，所以我以为你出去了。
Assuming that the proposal is accepted, when are we going to get the money.
假定这个建议被采纳，我们什么时候能拿到钱？
assumption n.假定，假设：
A lot of people make the assumption that poverty only exists in the Third World.
许多人认为贫困仅仅存在于第三世界。
astonish vt.使惊讶，使吃惊：
The news astonished everybody. 这消息使人人感到惊讶。
I was astonished at [by] the news.=I was astonished to hear the news.
听到这消息我很吃惊。
astronaut n.宇航员，太空人。
astronomer n.天文学家。
astronomy n.天文学。
at prep.在，于；向，对准；因为，由于；在…方面；(表示速度、程度、价格等)以，按：He lives at 35 Manchester Road, London. 他住在伦敦曼彻斯特路35号。
Everybody, we begin at page 50 today. 各位，我们今天从第50页开始。
At the news he became excited. 一听到这消息，他变得很激动。
He bought it at (the price of) 50 dollars. 他以50美元的价格买下了它。
