一般过去时是小学初中英语部分八大时态之一。一般过去时：表示过去发生的动作或存在的状态
（标志词主要有: just now,yesterday,last night,last week,...）
1、过去存在的状态
I was a pupil last year.去年我是一个小学生。
We were pupils last year.去年我们是一些小学生。
You were a pupil last year.去年你是一个小学生。
You were pupils last year.去年你们是一些小学生。
He was a pupil last year.去年他是一个小学生。
She was a pupil last year.去年她是一个小学生。
It was small last year.去年它小。
Tom was a pupil last year.去年Tom是一个小学生。
The cat was thin last year.去年这只猫瘦。
They werepupils last year.去年他们是一些小学生。
2、过去发生的动作
I played basketball yesterday.昨天我打了篮球。
We played basketball yesterday.昨天我们打了篮球。
You played basketball yesterday.昨天你打了篮球。
You played basketball yesterday.昨天你们打了篮球。
He played basketball yesterday.昨天他打了篮球。
She played basketball yesterday.昨天她打了篮球。
It rained yesterday.昨天下了雨。

注：动词过去式的变化规则：
1、一般情况直接加ed
play-played finish-finished
2、以不发音的字母e结尾的，直接加d
live-lived
3、以一个辅音字母加一个元音字母的重读闭音节，双写辅音字母，再加ed
stop-stopped drop-dropped
4、以辅音字母 y结尾的，变y为i再加ed
study-studied
5、不规则动词
