大家最常用的“拥抱”是hug与embrace，二者的区别很小。
【例句】
We stood there crying and hugging each other.
我们站在那里哭着互相拥抱。
She went to her daughter and hugged her tightly.
她走到女儿身边，紧紧地拥抱她。
区别
hug 相对于embrace 来说，抱得更紧一点，更口语化一点。
如：Come here and give me a big hug. 过来好好抱我一下。【口语化】
常用的搭配：
a hug enthusiast 热衷于拥抱的人
free hug （开玩笑的语气）免费拥抱，可以理解为爱的抱抱。
soulful hug 深情拥抱；soulful：热情的，深情的。
embrace 相对于hug来说更为正式。
如：The two leaders embraced each other. 两位*互相拥抱。【正式】
我们都知道，hug=拥抱，princess=公主，但“公主抱”与princess和hug都没关系！

cuddle这个词还可以指，搂抱着小孩儿或者小动物
