口诀解释：
in，在……里面，表示一种包含关系。例如：Gansu is in the northwest of China .甘肃在中国的西北。甘肃省在中国的里面，是中国的一部分。再比如，Lanzhou is in Gansu. 兰州是甘肃的一部分，要用in.
on, 在……边上，和……接壤。例如：Gansu is on the northeast of Qinghai.甘肃在青海的东北。甘肃和青海接壤，但互不隶属，平起平坐，谁也管不了谁。再比如，North Korea is on the northeast of China.中国和朝鲜接壤，就要用on.
to,不接壤，表示一种分离关系。例如：Shanghai is to the east of Gansu.上海在甘肃的东部。上海和甘肃不接壤，也互不隶属，平起平坐。Japan is to the east of China.日本在中国的东部。日本和中国不接壤。也是这种关系，就要用to.
