spend time doing，花多少时间做某事。spend的主语必须是人，不能是物，这是我们首先必须明白的。
再者，spend通常与on或（in）doing sth.连用，其中in还可以省略。它的意思是在某方面花了多少时间或花了多少钱。
但是，如果spend后接的是地点，那么就不能用on而应该用in表示在某地度过了……时光。spend some time doing 花时间做某事，spend time doing 花时间做。
注意: 如以下例子，I spent a month in Rome to improve my Italian.
spend +time+(in) doing sth 花费时间做某事，是固定结构，但是此处的 to do sth 不是和 spend 一起构成固定句式的一部分，而是单独的不定式表示目的，做目的状语。
译为：我在罗马花了一个月时间，目的是提高我的意大利语。也可以采用固定结构：I spent a month in Rome (in) improving my Italian.
spend用法主要有spend some money/some time on sth，spend some money/some time (in) doing sth，spend money for sth。另外,spend也有"度过"的意思。
