二者用于表示时间时，for 时间段；since 时间点。由for 和since 短语修饰的句子，通常用完成时或完成进行时，表示动作发生在过去，重点强调对现在造成的影响或结果。表示动作已经完成或一直持续。
例如:(1) I have lived in Shanghai for 10years. 我在上海已经住十年了。
(2) I have lived in Beijing since 2008.自从2008年我就住在北京。
知识纵深:since后面的结构有三种:
(1) since 时间点
(2) since 一段时间 ago
(3)since 句子 (这个句型要注意since 是连词，since 前的句子用完成时，since 后面的时态要用过去时。例如:
(a ）I have taught them English here since ten years ago. 自从十年前我就在这教他们英语。
(b He has worked on the farm since he left the school. 自从他离开学校以来，一直在农场工作。
(4）since 可以用作副词。例如:
They came to Shanghai in 2000 and have lived here since then. 2000年他们来到上海，从那时起就一直这儿。
知识纵深:对for 时间段的提问要用How long; in 时间段提问用How soon 。例如:
(1）I have had the car (for five years.) 我买这辆车已经五年了。→How long have you had the car? 你买这辆车多长时间了？
(2）He will be back( in two hours.)他两个小时之后回来。→How soon will he be back? 他多久回来？
for 表示的短语:for years 多年;for the first time 第一次; for a moment 一会儿; for a while 一会儿等。
