首先，要知道这几个分数，比较特殊：
1/2 one half(口语中更倾向于用“a”代替“one”)
1/4 a quarter(a／one quarter(fourth))
3/4 three quarters;three over(in,out of) four;three fourths
其他分数怎么表示呢？
1、“分之用基数词，分母用序数词”表示
分数在英语中通常是借助于基数词和序数词来共同表达的。其中基数词表示分子，序数词表示分母。先看分子为1的分数，
如： 1/3 one third a third
1/10 one tenth
1/100 one hundredth
2、分子>1时，分母序数词用复数形式，如third加s，thirds。
2/3 two thirds
3/10 three tenths
5/7 five sevenths
99/123ninty-nine one hundred and twenty-thirds
3、用介词表示 in, out of, over等
如5/7 除了five-sevenths，还可以用 five in seven， five out of seven或five over seven表示。
比较复杂的分数常常用over这个词表示。如：
317/509读作：three hundred and seventeen over five hundred and nine
Ninety-nine people out of a hundred，if they were asked who first found America， would answer Clumbus．
如果要问是谁首先发现美洲，一百个人中有九十九个（百分之九十九）将回答是哥伦布。
