同学们，在英语中有一类词叫做连词。连词是用来连接词与词、词组与词组或句子与句子的。连词用来表达它们之间的关系，所以连接词本身是有意思的。
今天为大家讲解的是最常用的几个连接词：and， but， or，和 so。
首先我们来看and，它是一个用来表示并列的词,经常翻译为 “和” “又”：
tall and thin
cold and hungry
a cat and a mouse
当然，它还可以表示一种顺其自然的关系。这个时候经常翻译为“那么”。
Work hard and you will pass the exam.
Run every day and you will keep healthy.
接着我们来看but，它用来表示转折，经常翻译为“但是”。
Our school is small but beautiful.
She is young but she knows a lot.
特别要注意的是，我们中文常说的 “虽然…..但是”在英语里边这两个词不能同时出现。
Though the car is very old but it runs very fast.[错误]
Though the car is very old it runs very fast.[正确]
The car is very old but it runs very fast. [正确]
现在来看or，它有三个意思:
Money or life ?
I don’t like purple or brown.
Hurry up, or you will be late.
最后我们来看So，它是用来表示一种结果的，经常翻译为“因此”,“所以” 。
It is very cold so you should wear more clothes.
He reads many books so he knows a lot.
但是大家特别注意是，我们经常说的“因为…..所以”，在英语里面 because和so也是不能同时出现的。
Because she is ill so she doesn’t go to school. [错误]
She is ill so she doesn’t go to school. [正确]
She doesn’t go to school because she is ill so. [正确]
