1. either 形容词，表示(二者之中)任意一个, "非此即彼"，修饰单数名词。
Either road to our school is okay.
两条路中的任一条都可以到我们学校。
He can write with either hand.
他能用任一只手写字。
对比any, any 表示(三者及以上)任意一个。
I'm free this week. Any day is OK.
这个星期我都有空，哪天都可以。
2. either 形容词，表示(二者之中) 每一个，修饰单数名词。
There are a lot of trees on either bank of the river.
河的两岸(每一岸边)都有许多树.
There are many high buildings on either side of the street.
街道两边有很多高楼。
比较：
There are a lot of trees on both banks of the river.
There are many high buildings on both sides of the street.
对比each和 every:
each 表示"二者或二者以上"中每一个，强调个体；
every 表示"三者或三者以上"中每一个， 强调全体。
Every boy in our class passed the examination.
班上每一个男孩子都通过了考试。

街道两边有许多树。
3. either ，用作代词，意为"二者之一"，可单独使用，也可以接"of (复数)代词"或"of 限定词 (复数) 名词"，限定词指定冠词the 或名词所有格及形容词性物主代词。either作主语时，谓语动词用单数。
You can take either of the roads to our school.
你可以选择两条路中任一条路来我们学校。
Either of the twins is able to finish the task on time.
双胞胎中的每一个都有能力按时完成这项任务。

4. either 用作连词，和or连用，用来连接两个并列的句子成分，意为"或……或……","不是……就是"。连接两个并列的主语时，谓语动词要按照"就近原则"，即动词的形式要与 or 后面的主语在人称和数上保持一致。
Either you or I am wrong.
不是你错就是我错。She is coming either today or tomorrow. 她不是今天就是明天来。
Either your father or you mother must come to the meeting.

5. either 用作副词 ，用于否定句句尾，表示"也不"。If you don't go, I won't either. 你如不去，我也不去。 My mother doesn't like travelling by air. My father doesn't like, either.
