（一）分类
英语中的冠词主要是用来修饰名词或形容词的，分为三类，即：不定冠词（a/an）、定冠词（the）和零冠词（不用冠词）。其中，an一般用于以元音开头的单词前。
（二）基本用法
1、单数可数名词，一般用不定冠词或定冠词修饰。如：
She ordered a hamburger without onions.
Did you drink the coke I just ordered?
2、复数可数名词，一般用定冠词或零冠词修饰。如：
Do you like reading grammar rules?
Do you like reading the grammar rules on this page?
3、不可数名词，一般用定冠词或零冠词修饰。如：
Have you studied the history of South Africa?
History reminds us that events repeat themselves.
（三）the的用法
1、用于形容词前，表一类人或物，如：
the elderly | the disabled | the unemployed |
the rich | the sick | the needy |
2、用于完整国名前，但其简称前一般用零冠词，如：
The United States | The People's Republic of China | The Republic of France |
America | China | France |
3、城市街道名前一般用零冠词，如：
Chicago | Fifth Avenue | San Francisco |
4、江河湖海山川岛屿名前多用定冠词，如：
the Amazon the Atlantic the Hawaiian Islands the Bahamas
5、基数词前一般用零冠词，序数词一般用定冠词，如：
World War Two the Second World War
6、带名字的头衔前用零冠词，不带of的学校名称前用零冠词，如：
President Mitchael The president
7、带of的学校名称前用定冠词，不带名字的头衔前用定冠词，如：
The University of Arizona Lincoln High
8、独立无二的事物前用定冠词，如：
the sun the moon
9、当表整体中的一部分时，其表整体的部分前要定冠词，如：
one of students none of the students
10、最高级前多要定冠词，但副词的最高级前的定冠词可用可不用，如：
He is the best students in his class.
He runs (the) fastest in his class.
