一定程度上,I'm afraid 和 I'm scared 用法相同
I'm afraid of spiders. = I'm scared of spiders.
I'm scared of heights. = I'm scared of heights. 恐高
I'm afraid of speaking in public = scared of.
I'm scared of dying.
3. 害怕将来的某件事(sth in the future)
I'm scared to go to the dentist.
I'm afraid to ask her out.
That movie is scary.
That's a scary movie.
I'm afraid that your order has been delayed.
I'm afraid I can't help you. (= I'm sorry, but I can't help you.)
You might be afraid to speak English. It's really common. A lot of English learners are scared to speak English because they are scared of making mistakes.
