雪莱把大自然和爱的表达联系在了一起，传达了最原始、最质朴的对爱的理解。
泉水和河流、大海和清风都成双成对，高山与碧空、阳光与大地也互相融合，世间万物好像遵循同一个法则：爱是成双。
雪莱和妻子玛丽·雪莱（Mary Shelley）是一对才子佳人，神仙眷侣。他也为玛丽写了很多情诗，最有名的是《致玛丽》（To Mary）。
玛丽曾这样形容他：“他的天才和品德曾是这个世界光荣的冠冕——他的爱一直是幸福、和平与善的源泉。”
