但我们转述他人的想法或他人所说，我们经常使用我们自己的语言，来转述他人的信息通常用reporting从句和reported从句组成的句子来转述。比如：reporting：she explained.reported：（that）she couldn't take the job until junuary.她解释道：她在1月前不能接受这个工作。
在转述句中以下情况，是不可以省略that的：
1.在complain，confide，deny，grumble，speculate，warn，answer，argue ，reply之后
2.正式书写。
3.that从句后面没有立即跟随动词时。
如果我们介绍宾语时，在admit，announce，complain，confess，explain，indicate，mention，propose，recommend，report等单词前面需要添加介词to。比如：she admitted （to me）that she was seriously ill.她（向我）承认，她得了很严重的病
当我们转述最近的消息，建议时我们通常会使用现在时态，当然在有的情况下，现在或者过去时态都有可能，虽然我们在转述这些事时，强调所说的事情是真的或任然有关时跟多用现在时态。
肯定使用现在时态的情况有：
- 转述我们所听到或被告的信息时，但是不知道是否是真实的。比如：i hear you ‘re unhappy with your job.我听说你很不满意你的工作。此事是猜测，并不知道是否是真实情况
- 转述官方说的话。比如：the law says that no one under the age of 16 can buy a lottery ticket.法律说低于16岁不可以购买彩票。
- 转述许多人都说的话。比如： every teacher i’ve spoken to tells me that standards of spelling are in decline.我接触过的每一位老师都告诉我，拼写的标准正在下降。
