在初中英语考试中，动词是考试时的重点内容和难点。而用所给动词的适当形式填空是最常考的题型。这种题型很多学生感到无从下手。这主要是学生缺少做题方法训练造成的。这种题型的做题方法有哪些呢？
用所给动词的适当形式填空做题方法：
1. 时态（8种），根据情况又可以分为根据提示词（即时间状语）做题和根据情景做题；
2. 动词固定搭配或句型（如：need to do sth,it is 形容词 for sb to do sth）;
3. 疑问词 to do sth或to do sth表示目的；
4. 被动语态；
5. 必要时加情态动词，常考的情态动词有：will/would/can/could/may/must/should;
6.语法分析。
下面我以两道题为例进行讲解。
Many people think 1 (cook)is a lot of fun.However,I am afraid of cooking,because I had a scary cooking experience(经历)
It was a Sunday afternoon.My parents 2 (be)not at home.I invited some of my friends to my home.We watched TV,played games,sang and danced happily.And we all had a good time.Later we all felt hungry.But we didn't have enough money to buy pizza or hamburgers.So we decide 3 (cook) some food at home.
I never cooked before,and I didn't know how 4 (do)it.I just watched my mom cooking before.I wanted to make some soup in one of my mom's glass bowls.But it seemed 5 (be)a bad idea.I poured some water into the bowl,put it on the stove(炉子)and turned on the stove.I waited and then it boomed(轰响)!The glass bowl 6 (break)into pieces and the water was here and there!

1.做题方法：语法分析，动词放在句子开头一般加-ing，答案为：cooking ；
2. 做题方法：时态，根据情景，上一句是一般过去时，这句仍然讲的是过去的动作，用动词的过去时态，答案为：were；
3. 做题方法：动词的固定搭配，decide to do sth,答案为：to cook；
4. 做题方法：疑问词 to do sth，答案为：to do；
5. 做题方法：动词的固定搭配，seem to do sth,答案为：to be;
6. 做题方法： 时态，根据情景,这句仍然讲的是过去的动作，用动词的过去时态，答案为：broke ;
7. 做题方法： 时态，主将从现,用一般将来时wont use 。

九年级模拟题：动词应用（共7小题，计7分）根据短文内容，用括号内所给动词的适当形式填空，必要时可加助动词或情态动词。
Bridges are built for many reasons. Some bridges are built so that cars 1 (cross) over rivers. Others are made for trains to use . In Washington State, there is a very unusual bridge. It was built for squirrels(松鼠) 。

如果学生想做好此种题，需要学生学好初中英语的八种时态，能够根据标志词（即时间状语）判断是哪种时态，并且能够互相区分几种时态。学生还需要学会被动语态和动词的固定搭配以及句型等。在情态动词方面，学生需要掌握情态动词的用法并能够互相区分。
