九日齐山登高
Climbing High in the Double Ninth Festival

江涵秋影雁初飞，
Autumnal scenery reflected in water, wild geese begin flying south
与客携壶上翠微。
With wine pots, I climb up the green peak with friends
尘世难逢开口笑，
It’s not easy to laugh in hard times
菊花须插满头归。
With chrysanthemums in the hair on the way home
但将酩酊酬佳节，
To celebrate the Festival, we have a good drink
不用登临恨落晖。
Climbing high, we shouldn’t dislike the sunset
古往今来只如此，
Things have been like this from of old
牛山何必独沾衣。
Why should Duke Jing of Qi have wept at the mountain

- 农历九月九日重阳节，旧俗登高饮菊花酒。齐山：今安徽池州的齐山
- 翠微：青绿色的山
- 牛山：山名，在今山东省淄博市，春秋时齐景公泣牛山，即其地
- autumnal [ɔːˈtʌmnəl] 秋天的
- wild goose 大雁（复数：geese)
- chrysanthemum [krɪ'sænθɪməm] 菊花

【白话译文】
江水倒映秋景大雁开始南飞，
约朋友携酒壶登上青山翠微。
尘世烦扰难得开口一笑，
头上插满菊花乘兴而归。
纵情畅饮欢度重阳佳节，
登高临水不要叹恨落日余晖。
自古至今世事都是如此，
何必像齐景公对着牛山流泪。
