Fight against Drugs
Nowadays drugs pose a grave menace① to the existence of human beings. According to statistics②, about 60 million people now suffer from cocaine③, heroin④, and other kinds of drugs. Only in China, the total number of drug abusers nationwide amount to 680,000, causing billions of dollars of losses. To make matters worse, the number is still on the rise. Therefore, we must launch a campaign to eliminate⑤ drugs.
The drug is a source of all kinds of crimes and a root of all-evil. First, it can bring calamity to any country and people. It once caused the decline of China in history. Besides, it can lead to all kinds of drug-related crimes and diseases. To illustrate, it can trigger⑥ the spread of AIDS by drug addicts sharing the same syringe⑦. Moreover, it can poison people' s soul and drive them into committing all kinds of crimes, such as robbing, stealing and murdering.
Therefore, we should launch a nationwide anti-drug campaign and take efficient measures to ban the drugs. First, we should crack down on the illegal production and traffic⑧ in drugs. Second, we should constantly strengthen the legislation⑨ of drug control. Third, we should carry out anti-drug education extensively and raise the whole people’s consciousness against drugs. Finally, we should develop international cooperation in drug control. With all the efforts, I believe the drug problem will be solved successfully in China.
