在这节课中，我们讲解了英语句法最核心最基础的规则，就是一个句子必须有主语和谓语。
但是你知道下面这3句个句子的主语和谓语吗？
The more practice, the better.练习越多越好。 More beer? 再来点啤酒？ Careful! 小心点！
你知道下面这两个句子意思完全不同吗？
I love you more than him. I love you more than he.
如果你不知道，说明你的语法体系还不够完善。今天，我们就来看看英语句法的最后一项，省略。由于现代社会的快节奏，现代英语的一大特点就是追求简洁明快。省略可以避免重复减少累赘，可以让句子连接紧密结构紧凑，还能强调重点突出信息，是一种极其常见又高级的修辞形式。
首先放上思维导图：常见的省略共10种，10=1 2 3 4.
在后句出现的不定式（to do）中，通常省略跟前句重复的实义动词部分，但要保留助动词（be和have）
例句：I asked him to see the film, but he didn't want to (see the film).
Are you on holiday? No, but I'd like to be (on holiday).
She hasn't done it yet. She ought to have（done it）.
2be动词1.在大多数状语从句中，如果满足以下两个必要前提：①主从句主语一致 ②从句谓语中含有be动词。就可以省略从句中的主语 be动词。
例句：When (you are) crossing the street, you can't be too careful.
I won't attent his wedding unless (I am) invited.
2.if（when, where, whenver, wherever, as soon as等） possible (necessary等)这一类结构也是状语从句的省略，但省略的是it is（或was），并且it并不指代主句主语。
例句：If (it is) possible, we'll build another railroad in this area.
When (it is) necessary, don't save money.
注意：以下几个省略结构，只需牢记意思，不必作过多分析。
if so (如果情况是如此) if not (如果情况不是如此)
if ever (如果某事曾发生) if any (如果有任何一点…东西)
3连词1）名词性从句: 宾语从句
在think, consider, suppose, believer, decide, know…这类表示观点想法的动词后，如果跟宾语从句，常省略连词that。
例句：I think (that) it will clear up this afternoon.
注意：主语从句前的that很少省略，而且通常限于it作形式主语的句子。
例句：It's and honour (that) I was invited to your party.
2）定语从句: 限制性定语从句
缺宾语时加的关系代词that/which/whom, 缺方式状语时加的关系词that（或 in which），都可以省略。
例句：The book (that) I bought yesterday is well worth reading.
I don't like the way (that/in which) you talked to your parents.
注意：其他引导定语从句的关系词的省略极其少见，在此不再展开。
3）状语从句：虚拟条件句
条件状语从句中的虚拟语气（虚拟条件句），省略连词if，把were, had, should提前。也可以看做为倒装。这一点在前文倒装中讲过。
例句：If it were not for my lack of money, I would go to paris.=Were it not for……
注意：名词性从句中的虚拟语气（1坚持2命令3要求4建议），省略should。
例句：I suggest that he (should) work hard.
