187、know， recognize
一、know 动词。意思是“认识、熟悉、了解、认得出来、知道”。一般有修饰性的词或短语来确定know的意义。是一个持续性动词。例如：
Do you know me ？ 你认识我吗？
I have known him ever since I was a child. 我从小就认识他。
He doesn't know the neighbourhood, the streets are unfamiliar. 他不认识街坊，这里的街道都是陌生的。
二、recognize 及物动词。意思是“认出、认清、认识到、（外交上）承认”。指重新将某人或某物“认出”来。例如：
He could scarcely recognize his old friend.他简直认不出他的老友来了。
He glanced at the envelope and recognized his uncle's hand-writing. 他看了一下信封，就认出是他叔叔的笔迹。
We are among the first countries to recognize the new government. 我们是最早承认这个新政府的国家之一。
