竦长剑兮拥幼艾，

荪独宜兮为民正。

屈原（约公元前340～约公元前278），战国末期楚国贵族。曾辅佐楚怀王，担任左徒、三闾大夫等官职。顷襄王时，长期被流放到湖南沅江、湘江一带。当他听到楚国郢都被敌人攻破的消息后，投汨罗江而死。所作《离*》、《天问》、《九章》、《九歌》等。

Qu Yuan(c. 340BC-278BC), from Noble County of Chu in the Late Warring States period. He once assisted King Huai of Chu, serving as a royal councilor, minister of etiquettes and so on. In the reign of King Qingxiang of Chu he was exiled to the River Ruan and the River Xiang areas in today’s Hunan Province for a long time. Hearing about the conquest of Ying, the capital, Qu Yuan committed suicide by jumping into the River Miluo. He is remembered forWoebegone, Asking Heaven, Nine Cantos, Nine Odesand so on.
