美国新奥尔良一年一度的爵士乐文化节在5月份拉下了帷幕。电影《爱乐之城》里的男主角塞巴斯蒂安就特别喜欢爵士乐，从电影出发，英语达人Leo特别录制了一段音频来介绍他心中的爵士乐~

《爱乐之城》是由达米恩·查泽雷执导，瑞恩·高斯林、艾玛·斯通、约翰·传奇、罗丝玛丽·德薇特、芬·维特洛克、水野索诺娅、J·K·西蒙斯主演的喜剧歌舞片，于2016年12月16日在美国上映。该片讲述一位爵士乐钢琴家与一名怀揣梦想的女演员之间的爱情故事。
“When people say they hate Jazz, they don’t know the context, they don’t know where it comes from. Jazz was born in a little flophouse in New Orleans. People spoke five different languages, they couldn’t talk to each other. The only way that they could communicate was with Jazz.” Quoted from Sebastian in the movie La La Land.
Jazz is an important part of American history, and it was originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans. There were many African immigrants speaking different languages in New Orleans back in the late 19th century, so jazz became the only way to communicate. Every player in a jazz band is improvising, composing, and rearranging, so you cannot hear an identical live jazz performance. Because of improvisation, jazz is all about conflict and compromise, jazz musicians conflict with each other playing their own styles of jazz music, then they compromise to create a new type of jazz music. Jazz soon developed into different styles of music, including Blues and Bossa Nova.
Jazz is treated by Americans as “America’s classical music” due to its variety of performing styles. You can find jazz playing in most high-end dining events, or you can find jazz playing everywhere in New Orleans.
著名电影《爱乐之城》里面的主演萨巴斯蒂安在电影里说道“如果有人说他们讨厌爵士乐，这些人不理解爵士的寓意，他们不清楚爵士是怎么来的。爵士是在新奥尔良的一个廉价旅馆里诞生的。当时人们说着5种不同的语言，爵士成了他们唯一可以沟通的方式。”

爵士乐因为演奏的多样性被很多美国人当做美国古典音乐。你可以在高档的晚餐盛宴听到爵士的伴奏。如果你在新奥尔良，你可以在任何地方听到你喜欢的爵士乐。
