Poor应该算是我们学英文初期记忆最深刻的单词之一了吧。但是大家好像只记住了它“穷”的一面，却忽视了它其他的含义。
在柯林斯词典中，poor有好几种意思：
1、用于表示人贫穷的：
someone who is poor has very little money and few possessions.
People in that village is very poor.那个村子里的人很穷。
2、用于表示国家、地区等的贫穷
After the war, many countries became poorer. 战争后，许多国家变得更贫困了。
3、可怜的、不幸的：the word “poor” is used to express sympathy for someone.
我们在口语中常说的“poor guy”就是这个意思。
4、形容某件事物劣质的，糟糕的：if you describe something as poor, you mean it is of a low quality or standard or that it’s in a bad condition.
The computer is in a poor quality. 这台电脑很劣质。
5、形容数量或比率等，不理想的，不合理的：
Why do you work there with such poor wages? 为什么工资那么低你还要在那儿工作？
6、形容人，不熟练的，蹩脚的：someone is not very skillful in a particular activity.
Tom is a poor actor. 汤姆是个蹩脚演员。
