Study on the Status Quo of Primary School English Teachers’ Reflective TeachingZhang Yun Wang Ping
Abstract: Reflective teaching is an effective approach to teachers’ professional development, yet the status quo of primary school English teachers’ reflective teaching has been rarely studied. A questionnaire and a case study were used to investigate Beijing primary school English teachers' understanding of reflective teaching, the current situation of their reflective teaching and the factors affecting their reflective teaching. The following findings are reached: The primary school English teachers in Beijing generally realize the importance of reflective teaching, yet they do not practice it very well. The main problems are that their reflection is not comprehensive, the level of their reflection is not high and their teaching after reflection is not satisfactory. For those problems, the authors explore the reasons and thereby give some suggestions.
Key words: primary school English teachers, reflective teaching, investigation of current situation, problems, suggestions
