“铁塔”又称"开宝寺塔"，距今已有近千年历史。铁塔一带古时是一座佛教寺院，最初建于北齐天宝十年(559年)，名“独居寺”。
唐开元十七年(729年)，唐玄宗下诏改独居寺为“封禅寺”。
后至北宋时期，宋太祖赵匡胤于开宝三年(970年)以北宋开宝年号，改其名为“开宝寺”。时至今日，开封因历代战乱和黄河多次冲淹，开宝开宝寺已荡然无存。
铁塔遍体通砌褐色琉璃砖，混似铁柱，从元代起民间称其为"铁塔"。其设计精巧，完全采用了中国传统的木式结构形式，塔砖饰以飞天麒麟、伎乐等数十种图案，砖与砖之间如同斧凿，有榫有槽，垒砌严密合缝。建成九百多年来，历经战火、水患、地震等灾害，依然屹立。
今天这座千年的历史建筑迎来了一位特殊的朋友.....

还记得我们上次在龙亭大殿上看见的塔吗？
Do you remember the tower we saw at the Longting Hall?
外：
铁塔（汉语）吗？铁塔（英语）。
The iron tower?
刘欣：
是的。
Yes.
外：
能用铁建这么高一座塔一定很不容易。
It is awesome to build such a high tower with iron.
刘欣：
不不不，虽然叫铁塔，但这座塔是用琉璃瓷砖建造的。
No. It's built with opal glass though called iron tower.
外：
今天能带我看看吗？
Can you show me around today?
刘欣：
不仅可以看，我们还能爬塔上去呢！我让学生向你介绍。

自龙亭大殿东望，可见一参天巨塔直入云霄，这便是铁塔。不同于龙亭满园的皇家气韵，也与清明上河园的市井风情相异，铁塔所承载的，是北宋年间的佛教文化。
In the east of the Longting Hall stands a soaring tower, the Iron Tower. Different from the imperial Longting Hall and the Millennium City Park, this tower is a Buddhist site built in the Song Dynasty.
外：
刚才我看到这上边说铁塔是鲁班建造的。
The words here suggest that this tower was built by Lu Ban.
陈奥航：
你没看清，这只是个传说。鲁班可是和北宋相差了一千五百多年。
That's merely a legend. Lu Ban lived 1,500 years earlier.
刘欣：
铁塔可是包含着无数工匠的心。有这样的传说，说明铁塔的构造是十分精妙的。
The tower crystalizes the wisdom of countless craftsmen. Legend has it that the structure of the tower is complicated.
郭润冰：
按照现在的说法，仅此一项工程，在当时就应该有说不尽的技术专利。
Numerous patents were employed in this project.
铁塔的前身是开宝寺中的十三层木塔，用以供奉佛祖舍利。然天降雷火，木塔付之一炬。皇帝又命人仿造木塔式样，以绝缘琉璃瓷砖建造。
一千年来，铁塔在悠悠香火中望尽世间沧海桑田，足以得见中国古代工匠的杰出智慧。现在国际上评价我们是建设狂魔，可这就是“工匠精神”的传承。
The former site of the tower was a 13-storey wooden tower that worshipped the Buddha relics. However, the wooden tower was destroyed by a natural fire. The emperor ordered to rebuild the tower with the opal glass.
After surviving a history of over 1,000 years, this tower mirrors the wisdom of the ancient Chinese craftsmen. China is known as a power of construction, which is the heritage of the past.

外：
我没有注意到。
I didn't notice that.
刘欣：
我们站的位置可是和黄河的河底一样高。
Actually we are at the same height of the riverbed of the Yellow River.
陈奥航：
我们开封被淹没了很多次。
Yes. Kaifeng has been flooded many times.
郭润冰：
“开封城，城摞城”。铁塔都有几层被埋在了地下。
The Kaifeng today is re-built time and again. Several storeys of the tower have been buried underground.
数次水患，将铁塔的基座及八棱方池埋于地下。历经千年风蚀，原本五光十色的宝塔也已在岁月的磨蚀中黯淡。侵华日军曾以炮火袭击铁塔，塔身中弹七八十发，但铁塔却像铁骨铮铮的中国人一样，始终屹立不倒。
The base and the hexagonal pool have been flooded several times. After weathering years of erosion, the charm of the tower has faded away. The tower had been hit by nearly 100 bullets during the Anti-Japanese War. But it stands still.
杨柳岸边，小荷初开。碧水蓝天，流云浮现。进铁塔拾阶而上，透过窗户可见北方黄河奔涌。伴着清脆的风铃声，梵唱若隐若现，宝塔千年的辉煌，仿佛在眼前重现。
The lotus blooms, echoing the verdant trees along the banks. The crystal water, blue sky and floating clouds surround us. Climbing up the tower, we can see the running Yellow River out of the window. Accompanied by the clear sound of the bell and the Sanskrit chanting, the tower takes on its past glory again.
中国的大国气度，自古有之。恢宏雄伟的龙亭，便是其最好的见证。即使国际社会风云诡谲，我们自有一颗包容的心去面对万事万物。不因小利而失格局，亦不因诘难而失担当。
西方社会部分人对中国有偏见。作为一名新时代的中国青年，有责任有义务把厚重的中国、真实的中国、发展的中国、腾飞的中国展现给世界。
