He was the best whale hunter（捕鲸人） alive（ /əˈlaɪv/ adj. 活着的）-tall, strong and cool.
Ned was also the only person on the ship who did not believe in the sea monster.
‘Why don’t you believe that we’re looking for some kind of a giant whale?’ I asked him.
