三十九、过去进行时
1. 过去进行时的用法
①．表示在过去某一时刻或某一阶段正在进行的动作。
例：We were playing football at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
昨天下午5点我们正在踢球
②．表示一个动作发生时，另一个动作正在进行。使用时注意：when连接一般过去时，而while连接过去进行时。
例：We were having fun on the playground when the bell rang.（一般过去时）
当铃响时我们在操场上尽情地玩耍
I was doing my homework while he was listening to music（过去进行时）
我做作业时他在听音乐。
2. 过去进行时的时间状语
与过去进行时连用的时间状语有：then,at that time,at this time yesterday, “at 点钟 yesterday”,all night以及while引导的时间状语从句。
例：What were you doing at this time yesterday? 昨天这个时候你正在做什么？
3. 过去进行时的各种句式
①．肯定句式：主语 was/were 现在分词
②．否定句式：主语 was/were not 现在分词
③．疑问句式： was/were 主语 现在分词

2. 比较级比较
①．比较级单独使用
例：Try to do better next time
下次争取做得更好。
②．比较级 than
例：John drove much more carefully than I did.
约翰开车比我小心得多。
③．比较级 and 比较级 越来越……
例：With time going on , we are getting on better and better with one another.
随着时间的推移，我们之间相处的越来越好。

3. 最高级比较
①．最高级主要用“the 最高级 （表示范围的短语或从句）”结构表示。最高级前的定冠词the可省略
例：This is the oldest theater in London
这是伦敦最古老的剧院。
②．比较级表示最高级的用法：
Ⅰ比较级 than any other 可数名词单数
例：He works harder than any other student in the class.
他比班上其他学生都用功学习
Ⅱ比较级 than any other 可数名词复数
例：He is a little higher than the other students.
他比其他学生都略高一点
Ⅲ比较级 than any of the other 可数名词复数
例：China is larger than any of the other countries.

Ⅳ比较级 than anything/anyone else
例：Tom cares more about health than for anything else.
