The Research on the Content Validity of the Reading Comprehension among Test Papers of NMET National Version Ones in 2021Yang Ziheng Zhu Xiaodong
Abstract: Taking reading comprehension among three sets of test papers among NMET national version ones in 2021 as the research object, this paper synchronically analyzes the characteristics and content validity of reading comprehension of NMET national version in 2021 from the characteristics of discourse input and expected responses based on the framework of task characteristics. The research findings indicate as follows: the reading comprehension of NMET national test papers in 2021 has reached a high content validity, which meets the requirements of Curriculum Standards and Testing Syllabuses. However, some weaknesses are also detected. For example, the genre and topics of reading passages are relatively single; the difficulty of the texts is not stable. Based on the above findings, some suggestions are put forward: testing designers are supposed to broaden text selection and enrich the testing form; to stabilize text difficulty and improve the proposition quality; to enrich testing skills and evaluate the comprehensive ability. As for English teaching, teachers are supposed to be guided by subject education, incorporating the idea of fostering virtue through education; to take extensive reading as an approach, focusing on the cultivation of the students’ core literacy.
